Benefits Summary:

• WAGES: A starting salary of $12.57 per hour, depending on qualifications.

• VACATION: Paid vacation leave accumulated at the rate of one day per month of employment, or twelve days per year.

• SICK LEAVE: Paid sick leave accumulated at the rate of one working day per month, with twelve days accrual for the year. Each December one-fourth of each employees unused sick leave is cashed out and paid to the employee. The remaining sick leave is carried over to the next year.

• HOLIDAY PAY: Employees receive twelve paid holidays during each calendar year. Holiday pay is paid in the form of 3.70 hours additional in each pay check. This is due to the nature of our 911 center and the operations involved in being a 24 hour service.

• MEDICAL, DENTAL, LIFE INSURANCE: Medical and dental plans from Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah, as well as life insurance plans are available to choose from.  The Center pays 80-100% of the premium, depending on the program and coverage selected.

• LONG TERM DISABILITY: Long term disability insurance is provided to all employees as part of their Utah State Retirement System participation.

• RETIREMENT: All regular full time employees are automatically enrolled in the Utah State Retirement System. Additionally, employees are enrolled in a second retirement system, ICMA, in lieu of Social Security contributions.

• DEFERRED COMPENSATIONS/SAVINGS PLANS: In addition to the State Retirement System, several optional deferred compensation and savings plans are available.

• EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: The Employee Assistance Program is a confidential and voluntary counseling and referral program whereby employees and their dependents may receive free assistance with problems of a personal nature.

The Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) is a 9-1-1 police, fire, and medical emergency services dispatch agency located in West Valley City, Utah.

VECC was formed under Utah law by six Salt Lake area cities and Salt Lake County in 1988. The current charter members are Draper, Midvale City, Murray City, Sandy City, South Jordan City, South Salt Lake City, West Jordan City, West Valley City and Salt Lake County.
