Navigator Conference, sponsored by Priority Dispatch allowed Spillman to rub shoulders with over 700 public safety attendees in our home town. Spillman participated in 3 events. First we had a 10×20 booth at the Navigator Conference. Second agencies were invited to tour VECC, a Spillman sponsored event and third a Spillman Headquarter Open House.
The Headquarter Open House allowed attendees to tour our facility, ask questions about Spillman and see the integration of Priority Dispatch and Spillman software. In preparation for the Open House individual invitations were sent via email to everyone on the pre-registration list through Pardot. Attendees were able to RSVP on line. In addition the event was posted on our web site with a link to the invitation. Our first sweep focused only on national agencies and was sent out 10 days prior to the event. Two days before the conference a reminder was distributed to all attendees.
The VECC Tour gave agencies from around the world the opportunity to see a first class multi-jurisdictional dispatch center. Bill Harry and his department were very helpful in preparing and working with Spillman to make this event a success. Priority Dispatch helped to promote the tour and arranged for a sign-up sheet at the conference. Using Pardot we sent a pre-conference email advertising the tour and encouraging agencies to participate. The email invitation appeared to come from VECC.
In addition to our general trade show activities we distributed flyers to attendees and invited them to our Open House. Everyone was very open and positive the only hold back we encountered was the Open House was on the last day and many of the attendees were planning on going home that afternoon. As our fall back we encouraged agencies to participate in the VECC tour which was a successful alternative.

The VECC Tour had an international feeling with participants from all over the world. Spillman provided one large bus the Spillman van and an extended van which allowed us to transport a total of 77 attendees. VECC was very gracious and accommodated not only this tour but a visit from Lee County Public Safety and were scheduled for a tour from the Hong Kong PD.
VECC allowed Spillman to set up a small booth in the front hall and act as the first contact as the bus arrived. Bill Harry began the tour with a brief introduction to VECC and then broke into 4 smaller groups. Bill’s introduction covered the ease in which VECC can handle multiple agencies, the challenges involved in this type of operation, reviewed their process and introduced Spillman software as their CAD vendor. Everyone was impressed with the detail and overall operation of VECC. The tour covered the various areas and allowed groups to walk through the facility ending up in the main dispatch room. The overall affect was very impressive and exhibited community preparedness and ease of operation. It was noted that some of the international groups had not heard of Spillman before and were impressed. As attendees boarded the bus Spillman gave each agency a small bag of Spillman (Utah) Truffles.
